Murdered by a Hitchhiker: Glacier National Park

In the summer of 1983, 31-year-old Fred Pongrace packed everything he owned into his Volkswagen van and set off across the country toward a new job and a new life in Seattle. Along the way, he stopped to offer a ride to a young hitchhiker and his dog. Days later, Fred’s body was discovered nearly 200 feet below Going-to-the-Sun Road in Glacier National Park, while his van and mysterious passenger were nowhere to be found. What initially appeared to be a tragic accident would turn into a murder investigation.
